Claudio Frigerio (Baritone) (Patterson, USA 1903 – Hollywood, Florida 1980)



He studied singing in Italy and made his debut in 1925 at the Teatro Carcano in Milano as Conte in G. Verdi’s ‘’Trovatore’’.

  1. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Frigerio in Hollywood Florida several times around 1978. I heard and saw what was likely his last opera performance in the roll of Scarpia in a small lyric opera company in Miami later that year. Aside from being a little short on breath due to having lost a lung for medical reasons, the quality and solidity of his voice was stunning throughout its range. He sounded better as a sickly old man than most of the young baritones I've heard in person since then.
